How to call from Japan

Station-to-Station Calls

  • Station-to-Station Call charges are a basic charge for the first three minutes and a per-minute charge for each additional minute.
  • However, the charge for the first three minutes is lower than for person-to-person calls.

Person-to-Person Calls

With person-to-person calls, you designate the party you wish to connect with and the English-speaking operator connects you. There is no charge while the operator is trying to reach the party, and all charges are cancelled if the party is not there. This is a convenient service when calling a country whose language you don”Ēt understand!

[Collect Calls]

This is a convenient way to make calls from someone else's home or office since the party on the other end pays the phone charges. The English-speaking operator connects you with the other party after they agree to accept the charges. You can call family members overseas or make calls from public telephones without worrying about how much money you have with you. After dialing 0051, simply tell the operator, “Collect call, please.”

Use your credit card to pay phone charges.

Another convenient way to pay phone charges is with your credit card. Just dial 0051 and tell the operator, “I'd like to pay by [credit card name], please.”

If you decide to pay by credit card, please be careful not to let anyone else hear or see your credit card number.
If you have a KDDI card, you can apply it with other KDDI international calling discount services.

  • 1) Only cards issued by VISA Japan and the Omni Group can be used.
  • 2) Corporate cards cannot be used.
  • 3) Cards issued overseas can also be used.
  • 4) Only international cards can be used.

  • *Only credit cards issued by the credit card companies shown above can be used (in some cases affiliated cards cannot be used).
  • *If you decide to pay by credit card, please be careful not to let anyone else hear or see your credit card number.
  • *Your identification number (PIN #) will be required if you use your credit card, so don't forget to memorize it or bring it along.
